Browser Rules help

Set up Browser Rules in Chrome and Edge, managed from the admin console.

The extension / Getting started

Check it's working

Two quick checks that the extension is installed and has its policies.

1. The extension's settings page

Select the Browser Rules button in the toolbar, then Settings. The page shows:

  • whether it is enrolled in your admin console, and when it last checked for changes;
  • the browser policy it has (such as its enrolment key), and where each value comes from;
  • the policies in force for downloads, websites and the clipboard, each marked Active, Disabled or Skipped, with the reason for any problem;
  • the audit log for this browser.

2. The browser's policy page

Open chrome://policy (or edge://policy), select Reload policies, and find Browser Rules under the extension policies. Each value you deployed should be listed with status OK.

Browser policy reaches the extension a few seconds after the browser starts. If a new value doesn't show, reload policies on chrome://policy and refresh the settings page. Policies changed in the admin console arrive within a few minutes, or straight away with Sync now on the settings page.
