Using the admin console / Getting started
Enrol your browsers
Browsers connect to your organisation with its enrolment key. The console's guide gives you a ready-made file with the key in it.
- Open Browsers and select Enrol browsers.
- Choose how you manage your computers: Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, Google Admin console, macOS, Linux, or one browser.
- Follow the three steps and download the file. It installs the extension in Chrome and Edge and gives it your key.
- Keep the guide open: it turns green when the first browser checks in, and browsers appear in the list as they do.
The complete files are also in this help, to read before you deploy: Group Policy, PowerShell, macOS, Linux and Google Admin.
The enrolment key
- It can only enrol browsers into your organisation, so it is safe to put in deployment files.
- It's shown, masked, at the top of the Browsers page, with Copy.
- Admins and owners can Replace key (in the guide, under Your settings). The old key stops enrolling new browsers; browsers already enrolled keep working. Update your deployment files with the new key.
One browser, by hand
To try it: install Browser Rules from the Chrome Web Store, open its settings from the toolbar button, and under Administration console paste the enrolment key, then Connect.
Once connected, a browser takes its policies and settings from the console. Policies set by your device management, other than the enrolment key, are no longer used, and the extension's settings page says so.
