Using the admin console / Policies
Publishing changes
Changes in the console reach browsers only once they're reviewed and published.
- What waits to be published: everything you change in the console: policies and their switches, lists, message templates and your brand, user groups, excluded websites, privacy and general settings. Browsers keep the published policies meanwhile.
- One set of changes for your organisation: every admin adds to the same unpublished changes, and any admin can publish or discard them. A yellow bar on every page shows when they were last saved. Publishing sends everyone's changes, so check Review first.
- Review and publish: lists each change by area. Changes that weaken protection are marked, such as a Block policy disabled, an Allow policy added, file types removed from a list, or a website excluded. Publish changes sends them to every enrolled browser within a few minutes; Discard changes deletes them.
- The audit log records each publish, with its version, and each discard.
The lists Browser Rules keeps up to date (such as Dangerous file types and AI assistants) aren't part of your changes: browsers get our updates directly.
