What Browser Rules does
Browser Rules is an extension for Chrome and Edge that checks downloads, websites and the clipboard against your policies, inside the browser.
What it protects
| Protection | What it does |
|---|---|
| Downloads | Stops programs, scripts and other risky file types, including inside ZIPs and ZIPs inside ZIPs. Programs are recognised by their content, whatever they are named. |
| Websites | Blocks websites before they load, or shows a warning people must acknowledge. |
| Clipboard | Keeps malicious commands out of the clipboard, such as the "press Win+R and paste" lures on fake CAPTCHA pages. |
Protected from the moment it's installed
The default policies apply as soon as the extension is installed, with no account and no setup: dangerous file types and ZIPs inside ZIPs are blocked, and malicious commands are kept out of the clipboard.
Managed from the admin console
The admin console is the website where you manage your organisation. Enrol your browsers in it to add your own policies (for everyone, for groups or for named people), see one audit log for every browser, and change policies in one place. It's free for up to 100 users.
Your device management installs the extension and enrols it. Everything else is set in the admin console: see Get started with the admin console.
What it is not
Browser Rules is an extra layer, not a replacement for antivirus, email filtering or updates. Some things it cannot do are listed in What it can and can't protect.
